I’m Kathryn Marie, but you can call me Kate. I am the designer behind Dyes Happy, previously known as Kathryn Marie designs.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Fashion Design at Philadelphia University and began my professional design career working for Lane Bryant Outlet and Catherine’s Outlet, Anthropologie and Peace Love World. I left the fashion industry to pursue the textile industry where I started Kathryn Marie designs in 2015 designing and making quilts. I turned to surface pattern design (also known as textile design) when I was unable to find any fabrics in shops I actually wanted to use for my quilts. I started dyeing all of my own fabrics and making repeat pattern designs from my dyed fabrics. I have been teaching dye classes (shibori and ice dye) since 2016.
Today I want to share my designs, process and art with you here. I look forward to sharing with you!
